Safety begins with some basic guidelines: Never leave cooking unattended while frying, grilling, broiling or boiling; turn off the stove for even a short period away from the kitchen; when simmering or baking for a long period of time, check it regularly, use a timer and remain in the home; and avoid wearing loose clothing with dangling sleeves.
